This exhibition is jointly presented by Chinese and international experts from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (Chinese Academy of Sciences), China University of Geosciences (Beijing), along with a top-tier immersive art exhibition curation team.
Spanning over 3,000 square meters, the exhibition showcases more than 500 precious paleontological fossils, including over 300 rare prehistoric specimens. Several dozen newly discovered species are being publicly displayed for the first time. The exhibits span the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic eras, from prehistoric giants to ancient marine ephemerae, comprehensively showcasing China's significant achievements in dinosaur and paleontological research. The exhibition uniquely combines rigorous science with dynamic artistry, representing the museum's innovative approach to science education.
The exhibition pays tribute to Earth's most magnificent chapters by displaying over 500 precious fossils, including more than 300 rare prehistoric specimens, offering a comprehensive presentation of Chinese dinosaurs and other prehistoric life. Visitors can witness life's prosperity from hundreds of millions of years ago while exploring how environmental changes influenced evolution, enhancing their understanding of natural history and scientific exploration.
A multitude of exhibits in this exhibition are being introduced to the global audience for the very first time. This includes the fossils of a newly discovered suspected member of the Tyrannosauroidea, which is likely to be the earliest and most primitive one worldwide. Lufengosaurus huenei, the first dinosaur independently excavated, studied, and mounted by Chinese researchers and renowned as the "First Dinosaurs of China", is also on display. Yangchuanosaurus, the preponderant predator in the Sichuan region during the Late Jurassic period, is presented. Furthermore, Anchiornis huxleyi, the earliest and most ancient feathered dinosaur known to date globally, is exhibited. Mamenchisaurus, the largest Jurassic dinosaur in Asia and famed for its exceptionally long neck on a global scale, is part of the showcase. Confuciusornis, the earliest recognized ancient bird with a keratinous beak in the world, and Volaticotherium, the earliest flying mammal in the history of global biological evolution, are among the items on display as well..
The exhibition recreates Mesozoic scenes from land to sky, forest to lake, showing the evolution from early dinosaurs' fragile steps to feathered dinosaurs' grace and T-Rex's majesty, transporting visitors 200 million years back in time.
For young dinosaur enthusiasts, the exhibition features over 10 interactive sections, including fossil restoration, dinosaur height comparison, dinosaur power battles, and "dinosaur skin" touching experiences. These hands-on activities transform textbook knowledge into tangible experiences, allowing children to immersively explore prehistoric Earth's magnificent landscapes and species evolution while witnessing China's rapid development and achievements in paleontological research.
