Meet Impressionism Monet, Renoir and the masters of Normandy

This exhibition is arranged across five themed sections: "Seaside Resorts," "The Coast: Nature and Labor," "Saint-Siméon Farm," "The Land of Normandy," and "Along the Seine River." It showcases how artists in the early 19th century began venturing outside their studios, immersing themselves in life, and prioritizing their personal impressions in their work.

The exhibition features 54 paintings by 34 artists, including Monet, Delacroix, Renoir, Courbet, and Corot, offering visitors a glimpse into the golden age of 19th-century Western painting. Key works include: "Storm at Saint-Adresse" and "The Cliff" - oil paintings by Claude Monet, father of Impressionism; "Sunset, View of Guernsey" by the beloved Impressionist Pierre-Auguste Renoir; "The Cliffs at Dieppe," a watercolor by Eugène Delacroix, leader of the Romantic movement; "Sunset at Low Tide" by Eugène Boudin, known as the "King of Skies" and Monet's mentor; and "Beach in Normandy" by Camille Corot, master of the Barbizon school.

According to exhibition curator Alain Tapié, founding president of the Association of Norman Paintings, these collections from the Association of Norman Paintings and the Franciscan Museum of Deauville represent nearly a century of Norman Impressionist works. The exhibition has previously toured several European countries to widespread acclaim.

Peindre en Normandie
In 1992, the Basse-Normandie region of France established the "Peindre en Normandie(Paintings in Normandy)" collection, which focuses on artworks from the late 19th century to the 20th century. The works predominantly feature Normandy as their theme, showcasing both natural landscapes and coastal scenery, as well as portraits and still life compositions. Renowned artists such as Delacroix, Corot, Courbet, Manet, Boudin, Monet, and Morisot are part of this collection, alongside lesser-known painters like Cals and Dubourg, who depicted numerous Normandy landscapes. With its diverse content, regional characteristics, and a blend of public and private collections, this series stands uniquely in France, documenting various phases of art history from Realism to Impressionism and beyond. The artworks from this collection have not only been exhibited in museums across Normandy but have also traveled to countries including Italy, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Finland, Belarus, Latvia, and Estonia. They became ambassadors for the Normandy region in these years.
