This exhibition features nearly 60 pieces from the renowned Italian collector Giuseppe Alessandra, showcasing European masterpieces from the 14th to 18th centuries. It systematically presents the development and evolution of Italian art over 500 years, particularly highlighting the significance of the Venetian school, represented by Titian, in Italian art and its influence on European art history.
The exhibition brings together original works by 46 master artists including Raphael, Titian, Botticelli, Giorgione, Bellini, Tintoretto, Veronese, Tiepolo, Rembrandt, and Rubens. It traces the inheritance and development of classical spirit in European art history from the late Middle Ages through the Renaissance to the Baroque period.
The exhibition's structure draws inspiration from music, designed like movements of a symphony, presenting a "color symphony" centered around Titian and other Renaissance masters.
Following the exhibition's path, visitors first journey through the theology-dominated Middle Ages, witnessing art pieces embodying devout faith. They then experience the brilliance of Italian Renaissance painters, embracing spiritual freedom, especially through the visual feast of color and light brought by Venetian painters. Finally, in the dynamic Baroque art section, visitors can reflect on the lingering influence of Venetian art while preparing for the impact of new-era aesthetics.
In 2007, the Museo del Paesaggio of Torre di Mosto, Venice, sponsored an exhibition of Giuseppe Alessandra's collection, supported by various municipal governments in eastern Veneto and the Venice Foundation. Museum Director Giorgio Baldo stated in an earlier interview that art serves as a bridge between civilizations, expressing hope for Venetian school works to reach China and the world. He expressed delight in establishing this exhibition partnership and valued this precious opportunity to exhibit in China..
